Hi Keith, I've come across some bad packaging, but that takes the biscuit. It's shocking what some companies will do.

Having being involved in retail packaging for the last 7 years +, my expereince of late tells me that in many cases (more than we think), packaging of gifting items is an after-thought and often left to the factory who are sourcing the item itself. The packaging is supplied from a factory affiliated (often not audited) with them and is often 'standard'. Depending on the quality reviewing standards of the gift company selling the gifts, the added weight may even be a surprise to them. The factory may have supplied the correct gift for all the approval processes and then supplied bulk at an inferior quality. Either this, or the gift company is perfectly aware and have standards that are shocking.

Sorry to hear it was a gift - I am sure the buyers of it would be mortified if they knew.
