CROWN Helps Batter Blaster Put a New Twist on Breakfast

Concept for Ready-to-Use Organic Pancake and Waffle Batter Comes to Life with Metal Packaging

Philadelphia, PA – January 8, 2009. Interested in light, fluffy pancakes or crisp, airy waffles in a matter of minutes with zero prep work? It’s entirely possible thanks to Batter Blaster LLC’s Organic Batter Blaster™ Original Pancake & Waffle Batter, dispensed from innovative metal packaging supplied by CROWN Aerosol Packaging USA, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com).

Developed to allow busy families to enjoy healthy, homemade tasting waffles quickly and with virtually no mess – while also creating some fun during the morning routine – the package significantly enhances the product’s convenience and consumer interaction with the brand. Consumers simply shake the container, spray the batter into a pan or waffle iron and serve. No added ingredients or mixing is required.

Batter Blaster uses the highest-quality USDA Certified Organic ingredients, including Certified Humane cage-free organic eggs. The eco-friendly message is echoed in the choice to use steel packaging, which is 100% recyclable.

“The environmental advantages of metal were a key factor in selecting this format for our packaging, particularly because we are marketing an organic product,” says Sean O’Connor, CEO and founder of Batter Blaster LLC. “In fact, we actively promote the sustainability of our packaging because we want our customers to feel good about using the product from start to finish.”

The packaging, and its CO2 propelled dispensing system, also plays an integral role in maintaining the viscosity of the batter throughout its shelf life, ensuring the first pancake or waffle is as good as the last.

The 18oz. package contains enough batter for roughly 28 4-inch pancakes. Consumers can prepare as many or as few pancakes or waffles as they’d like, making it ideal for parents wishing to cook family-sized batches or seniors who prefer single servings. Remaining batter is simply stored in the refrigerator, eliminating product waste. Parents can also inject some excitement into breakfast by creating fun shapes or spelling out words with the batter.

“The launch of Batter Blaster™ Original Pancake & Waffle Batter is a great example of how metal packaging can help turn innovative ideas into marketable products,” explains Brad Dahlgren, Vice President, Sales, CROWN Aerosol Packaging USA. “We’re pleased to have been able to help Batter Blaster bring this unique concept to life.”

Batter Blaster is available in more than 9,000 stores across the country including Costco, Sam’s Club, Whole Foods, Safeway, Kroger and other major supermarket chains.
